RODEO DAY!

HOWDY PARTNERS! We had a boot scootin' good ole time yesterday in kindergarten for RODEO day. The rain couldn't stop us from having fun. We just brought the games indoors. Thank you to all of the volunteers that helped make this day special.

Were you able to recognize your little cowboy or cowgirl?

Today, we are enjoying the state dish for lunch. Chili of course! Today will be another fun day of learning to wrap up our Texas unit. I hope you all have a wonderful spring break with your family.

Dr. Seuss Day!

To celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday we read a few Dr. Seuss books and made Oobleck! Oobleck is a slimy green mixture that looks like a liquid but feels like a solid. If you you like to make some at home just mix corn starch and water together. We used green food coloring in the water to recreate the green mess that little Bartholomew tried to warn the Kingdom of Didd about.

Valentine's Day Fun!

Valentine's Day in kindergarten is always a fun day! Here are some pictures of our fun filled day...

At some point in the day the kids started growing colored facial hair... I figured I would join in on the fun too. Where else can you wear a big bushy pink mustache?

100th Day of School!

Happy 100th day of school! We made it! Together, we survived 100 days of kindergarten. We celebrated by dressing up as 100 year olds or wearing shirts that had 100 items glued on it. We all had a FUN day!

I have the best group of kids! Not to mention the cutest kids. They are full of personality and make my days so enjoyable. What's the old saying... "choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." Well, thanks to ALL of my kiddos, that is exactly how I feel!  Looking back at the year, I wouldn't change a thing. Thank you to all of my parents that have helped make this a great year. I have awesome volunteers and support. Thank you for all that you do! The rest of the year is going to fly by so get ready!

Not only did we celebrate the 100th day of school... We celebrated Mrs. Wilkinson's 85 birthday! What a beautiful lady! Mrs. Wilkinson was my principal when I was in 1st-4th grade. It is an honor to teach at her school!

Science Night!

We had a great time at Science Night! All of the students learned some cool chemistry facts and saw some awesome experiments! I sat front row with the kinder kids.

A shout out to my student Wes. He correctly answered a question about liquid nitrogen! Smarty Pants!

Parents, it is VERY important to make sure your child is reading every night. The homework books that come home every night are on their independent reading levels. In most cases, your child read the book at least one time with me while at school. Sometimes, we are able to read them many times. Rereading is something good readers do. Before, during, and after reading, you can stop your child and ask them comprehension questions. This is important with fiction and nonfiction books.

Also, keep practicing those kinder sight words. Some students have already moved on to first grade words.

I AM VERY PROUD OF ALL OF MY STUDENTS FOR THE PROGRESS THEY HAVE MADE SO FAR THIS YEAR! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

Please make sure you return the homework books as well.  :)
