I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. I came to the hospital last night at about 3:00 am. This little boy was ready to see the world. Logan is 6 pounds 14 ounces. He is 19 1/2 inches long. We are both doing great! Mrs. Bartlett will start on Monday. I know the kiddos will love her! I hope everyone has great holidays. If all goes well I will see y'all after the new year.
I can't figure out how to add a picture from my phone right now. I've always done it from my computer. However, Mrs. Bartlett has a picture of him so she can at least show the kids.

iPad Lessons
We have a wonderful iPad teacher that comes every other week to teach the kids some amazing educational apps that we use in class. We have enough iPads for the kids to share with a partner. We have great learning going on even while we are playing on iPads!
Let the Voting Begin!
As our local election day neared we have been talking about voting in class. We discussed how important voting is and how individuals can help make big decisions for the community by voting. However, bonds and city ordinances don't mean much to kindergartners so we voted on something a little more age appropriate...
Who is telling the truth? The 3 Little Pigs or The Wolf? We read books narrated by each character and voted using ballots.
Once the votes were all in we tallied our responses & made a graph.
Drum roll please............. The wolf won by 1 vote! None of the kids had heard the wolf's version of the story and were pretty impressed with his soft side.

It's the 50th Day of School!
For the 50th day of kindergarten we did a rotation around the hallway where the kids got to visit each teacher and do a fun activity to celebrate being 50 days smarter. At the end of the day we had a sock hop and enjoyed ice cream sundaes. Thank you for helping your child participate in our fun day by letting them dress up as a cool cat or hip chick! Also, thanks for sending in all of the yummy treats! We had a GREAT day!

Red Ribbon Week 2015!
Yesterday was the kick off to Red Ribbon Week 2015! Our school is joining in on a nation wide campaign to have kids say No! to drugs. This is when the kids will learn that drugs are bad for your body and mind. They each made a pledge to NEVER do drugs.
Monday, they wore neon colors to show that they are to bright to do drugs. We also had a CISD police officer and his drug dog Bronco come visit our class.
Tuesday, they dressed up as what they want to be when they grow up. As long as they stay away from drugs they can be anything they want! We have future cops, veterinarians, stylists, rock stars, bakers, football players, and teachers!

This Wednesday the kids wore camo so drugs won't find them. We talked about how nature's camo was animal print so some kids decided to go in that direction. :)
This week we are learning the difference between fiction books and non-fiction books. Today's lesson was really fun and the kids did a great job! We made an anchor chart as a whole group to sort books. Then, the kids made their own T-Chart to choose and sort 10 books into fiction and non-fiction groups. They all did a great job.
On Thursday we gave drugs the boot!
I asked for a "little sass" and this is what I got! Ha! They are so cute :)
Here are the macho boys in my class!
On Friday the kiddos showed their team spirit by wearing their favorite team shirt.
