Rock Hounds!

This week in science we collected rocks and sorted them by size, shape, color, and texture. Yesterday my mom came and brought some of her rock collection to share with the kids. She talked a little about each one and let the kids pass them around. There were shiny rocks, minerals, rough rocks, layered rocks, fossilized shark teeth, smooth rocks, and petrified dinosaur poop. Yep, that's right, DINO POOP! The kids loved it!

Tornado in a bottle

In Writing recently we practiced writing How To papers. The kids were all responsible for coming up with something they could teach to a friend then write step by step instructions. As a class, we wrote How to Wash your hands. The next week we made a tornado in a bottle using step by step directions. Maybe try making one at home by following the directions your child can remember. Good luck!  :)

Kindness Quilt

During the month of February our school is focusing on kindness. Each grade is in charge of creating a bulletin board. Kindergarten made a kindness quilt. Once the whole bulletin board is done it will look amazing! Because there is not enough room for everyone's work in the main hallway, each class picked a few. The rest of our work is in the kinder hallway. Next time you walk our hallways come check them out.
